Today’s visit starts from the magnificent Potala Palace which is a complex palace consisting of two parts – the Red Palace as the center and the White Palace on the wings.
Since the 17th century, it has been the religious and political center of this land and is now a must-see landmark.
After lunch, continue to visit the Jokhang Temple at the center of old city. Decorated with Tibetan murals and carvings, this temple has adopted the architectural styles of the ancient Tang Dynasty, Nepal and India. You will then walk along bustling Barkhor Street.
In the morning, you will visit Tibet Museum. As the first modern museum in this area, it is an important window to introduce foreigners to the glorious local culture; then visit the Norbulingka Park, a large and beautiful artificial garden.
After lunch, continue to visit the Sera Monastery, which is famous for its large collection of Buddhist statues, sutras and murals. Besides, the special activity of debating on Buddhist doctrines held in the monastery is also quite interesting.
We will transfer you to Tsetang today. En route, you will visit the Samye Monastery. Built in the 8th century, the Samye Monastery is the first temple that has tonsured monks in this region.
Upon arrival, visit the Tombs of the Tibetan Kings, the largest well-preserved imperial graveyard in Tibet, where the Tibetan Kings were buried.
Your first stop today is the Trandruk Monastery, where you can enjoy the most delicate Tangka Paintings; then travel to the Yumbulangang Palace, the first palace in Tibet.
Finally, drive to Gyangtse. En route, you will stop at Yamdrok Lake, one of the three sacred lakes in Tibet, where you can also enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Karola Snow Mountain.
Today, your tour includes the Palkhor Monastery, an exquisite structure built in the early 15th century, and the Gyangtse Old Street.
Then your local guide will accompany you to Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet. Upon arrival, pay a visit to the New Palace of Panchen.
After breakfast, head to the Tashilunpo Monastery, the largest temple in the Shigatse area, dating back to the year of 1447 during the Ming Dynasty.
