Yabuli Ski Resort, based on Yabuli Sun Mountain, part of the Changbai Mountain Range, is situated in the eastern Shangzhi City of Heilongjiang Province. Shangzhi City falls under Harbin’s jurisdiction, although the former is more than 120 miles (200 kilometers) east of Harbin and 75 miles (120 kilometers) west of Mudanjiang.

Yabuli got its name from a Russian word meaning “orchard. ” Indeed, it was once used as a hunting ground for imperial family and nobility during the Qing Dynasty. The whole ski resort is encompassed by mountains, features dense forests, thick snow and spectacular landscape.

Originally built in 1980, Yabuli ski resort is composed of 5 venues for alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping and biathlon and 2 tourist skiing venues. The skiing center can be divided into International Competitive Alpine Ski Zone and Tourism Ski Zone. International Competitive Alpine Ski is mainly used in holding national and international competitions, and also serves as a skiing training venue for intermediate and advanced skiers. While Tourism Ski Zone is usually used for skiers of every level along their skiing trip and general ski competitions.

Yabuli earned its fame by holding the 1996 Third Asian Winter Games, then gradually developed into a China’s largest ski resort with well-equipped facilities and favorable condition. In 2009, as the host city of Winter Universiade, Yabuli attracted the attention of the world again.

Heilongjiang International Skiing Festival has been held here successfully for 8 years, which has added considerably to Yabuli ski tourism from within China and abroad. It is China’s largest comprehensive ski field having areas dedicated to both competitive skiing and leisure skiing. Also it is honored to be the winter training base for polar scientific research. Yabuli already has been the first choice for ski tourism in China, praised as “the city of skiing”.

In addition, the resort provides tourists with various snow activities including alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, dog sledding, and snowmen-making. Yabuli also has an entertainment area for children on top of a resort hotel, villas, retail and ski jackets and equipment rental shops, souvenir stores, and bars.

How to get the Yabuli:

By skiing speical Train: visitors can take “Skiing Special Train” K7047/7048 at 08:08 from Harbin East Railway Station to reach the resort.

By tour bus: Visitors can take tour bus to Yabuli Town at Harbin Longyun Passenger Station which takes about three hours. When get off at the town, visitors can take mini-bus to the resort which takes about 20 minutes.

By train: Visitors can take the K7047, K7053, K265, 4041 and K7105 trains to the resort.
