Jiuzhaigou Sichuan Province, approximate 400 kilometers away from Chengdu. With the area of 60 thousand square kilometers, the present name, Jiuzhaigou is derived from the nine villages where Tibetan once inhabited in the ravine. Rising about 2000 meters above the sea level, Jiuzhaigou is covered by the dense virgin forest among which 108 lakes distribute.
The beauty of Jiuzhaigou rests on its water. Lakes, springs, waterfalls, streams, and rivers combined to take on various and charming sceneries. The waterfalls cascade into a tranquil pond making a glistening turbulence. The romantic nooks are veiled by curtains of water. The reflection of trees, mountains, and blue make you intoxicated.
In the 1970s, Jiuzhaigou was discovered by several lumbermen by chance. In 1975, a team of Agricultural Department made a comprehensive exploration and concluded that Jiuzhaigou is rich in the resources of wildlife, water, and mineral and is a rare natural sight in the world.
With a forest coverage area of 20 thousand square kilometers, Jiuzhaigou is the home of wildlife. It shelters many kinds of rare and endangered animals like giant pandas, cloud leopards, lesser pandas, golden cats. Jiuzhaigou exhibits a rich flora with over 3,000 species and subspecies including more than 60 kinds of precious pine trees and 70 kinds of medicinal herb.
The scenery area of Jiuzhaigou includes Baojingyan, Shuzheng, Rize, Jianyan, Changhai and Zharu, among which Rize and Shuzheng are the most famous. The Mirror Lake has more than 40 lakes like 40 mirrors. Shuzheng main scenery in Rize lies in the lots of waterfalls like Pearl Shoal Waterfall, Panda Waterfall, High Falls and so on. High Falls is the highest waterfall in Jiuzhaigou. The main scenery in Shuzheng has Potted Landscape Shoal, Shuzheng Waterfall, Reed Sea. With the length of 13.8 kilometers, Shuzheng is the gate of Jiuzhaigou landscape, which is considered a miniature of Jiuzhaigou.
Jiuzhaigou has four distinctive seasons with charming views. When bright blossoms erupt in spring, the whole Jiuzhaigou bursts into color. In summer, Jiuzhaigou is veiled under the lush shady trees. Colorful lakes like pearls sparkle in the green. And Jiuzhaigou presents another view in autumn when the leaves turn into red and reflector float on the lakes. The Jiuzhaigou in winter covering by the snow is more tranquil and picturesque.
