Sun Yat-Sen, an important political leader in China, is the founder of Republic of China and National List Party of China, who is honored as “Father of Republic of China”. He devoted himself to democratic revolution of China all his life. His main political idea is focused on “Three Principles” of nationalism, democracy and people’s livelihood, which is dedicated to overthrowing the imperial monarchy in China. He led different kinds of revolutions for anti-feudalism. Among them, the Republic Revolution in 1911 is the best-known, which overthrew the last feudal dynasty in Chinese history and created a new page of Chinese modern history.
He died in 1925 in Beijing. Before dying, he left his last wish of being buried at the foot of the Purple Mountain in Nanjing because it was in Nanjing that the Provincial Government of the Republic of China was founded. After his death, people did what he wished and built the Dr.Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum to memorize him. Each Chinese shall never forget him and he will live in Chinese heart forever.
Situated at the foot of the second peak of Purple Mountain in Nanjing, Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum was started for building in 1926 and completed in 1929, which is famous for its sophisticated architecture and impressive momentum and was listed into 5A scenic spot by the National Tourism Administration of China.

When visiting the Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum, the first scene that comes to your sight is the bronze Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s statue, 2.9-meter high and 1-ton heavy, standing on the grand square impressively. Beyond the main vault lies the 480-meter-long and 50-meter-wide stairway which is composed of 392 marble-made stairs. With its unparalleled charm, it attracts tens of thousands of travelers domestic and abroad to pay a visit annually.
