Ciqikou Old Town is nestled on the bank of Jialing River in Shaba District of Chongqing, facing Jialing River in east, Shapinba area in south, bordering Tongjiaqiao Street in west and backing Shijingpo Street in north. It is 3 kilometers far from the downtown of Chongqing. Ciqikou is a well protected time-weathered street, which is the epitome of Chongqing. It was the famous porcelain producing and transiting center, hence the name Ciqikou is given, which means porcelain in Chinese.
Ciqikou old town covers 1.5 square kilometers and shelters 18000 population. It was started to build in Song Dynasty, developed into a commercial port in Ming Dynasty and was prospered in late Qing Dynasty. Here, the ancient history, profound culture and distinctive life of Chongqing would be discovered, which earns Ciqikou the fame of “Lesser Chongqing”.
Architectures on the street are of Sichuan features. The blue-stone paved paths and quaint dwellings along street are well blended with each other. Houses in the Ciqikou Old Town are timber-made and each house is separated with others by wooden walls. Windows of each house are decorated with window paper-cuts, exquisite in patterns and fine in workmanship. The carved beams and painted rafters make this ancient town more distinctive and antique.

Ciqikou Old Town was listed into municipal protected streets of Chongqing in 1998. The government of Shapingba District has developed Chongqing into a tourist area brimming with profound Bayu culture.
