Guangzhou to Dacca, Bangladesh from July 5, 2009.
Newly-launched Tianjin Airlines makes first flight

(June 10, 2009) The first flight of newly-established
Tianjin Airlines took ff Wednesday morning, marking the
start of 20 daily flights.
The plane, an E190, departed at 8:10 a.m. for Guiyang of
southwestern Guizhou Province en route to Xi'an in Shaanxi.
Stewardesses in red Qipaos, traditional Chinese dress,
served passengers special Tianjin snacks, including fried
dough twists and stuffed-steamed buns to mark the occasion.
Nine other round trips to China cities including Hohhot,
Taiyuan, Qingdao and Dalian also began Wednesday from
Tianjin.
According to a spokesman with the airlines, two other
routes, one to Weihai, a coastal city of eastern Shandong
Province and one to Nanchang, capital of Jiangxi Province,
via Zhengzhou , are also planned. No start date was given
By 2012, the airlines planned to operate 500 routes with
more than 100 planes, including some international flights.
It is expected to transfer more than 15 million passengers a
year, said the spokesman.
Tianjin Airlines is a joint venture launched by the Hainan
Air Group, Hainan Airlines Co., Ltd. and Tianjin Port Free
Trade Zone Investment Co. in the northern municipality on
Monday. It has a registered capital of 1.3 billion yuan (190

Kenya Airways (KQ) to fly directly to
China beginning Oct. 28, 2008 --
Kenya
Airways (KQ) will launch direct flights to Guangzhou, China
beginning October 28th 2008.
The
airline's Communication Manager, Ms Victoria Kaigai at
the same time said the airline has unveiled a new winter
timetable with increased flights to Bangkok and Hong
Kong. The 12-hour flights to Guangzhou will
operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays on the
airline's Boeing 777 aircraft.
KQ has
been flying to Guangzhou through Dubai since 2005. KQ
therefore becomes the first airline from sub-Sahara
Africa to launch the non-stop flights from Nairobi to
mainland China,? said Kaigai. The direct flight to
Guangzhou becomes the third outside Africa. In Europe,
the airline flies directly between Nairobi and London,
and Nairobi to France. Guangzhou is a major shopping
destination for merchants from Africa, who connect
through Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
Apart
from reducing their travel time by an estimated 20 per
cent, travellers on the flights will also eliminate a
2-hour stop-over at Dubai. Kaigai said frequencies to
Bangkok will now go up from 6 to 7 times in a week while
those to Hong Kong will move from 4 to 5 times a week.
JAL Increases
Flight Frequency On Kansai-Hangzhou Route,
September 9, 2008 --
To meet the increasing demand, Japan Airlines
has announced that it will increase the flight
frequency on the route between Kansai
International Airport and Hangzhou from three
flights a week to seven a week at the end of
October.
At present, the company operates seven weekly
flights on the route between Tokyo Narita
International Airport and Hangzhou. JAL has also
decided to increase the number of flights
between Kansai and Hangzhou with aims of
attracting more business travelers.
Meanwhile, due to
rising fuel costs, the company plans to cancel
two routes focusing on leisure tourists: the
Narita-Xi'an and the Kansai-Qingdao route.
In addition, to
improve the yield on the routes to China, JAL
also is expediating the replacement of the
existing aircraft by more cost effective types

Hainan
Airlines to fly Beijing-Seattle route - Feb. 21, 2008 -- China's Hainan Airlines announced Wednesday
it would launch direct flights between Beijing and Seattle
from June 9 this year.
Four flights are scheduled for Monday, Wednesday, Friday and
Saturday every week. The flight will leave Beijing at 16:20
and arrive in Seattle at 12:00 local time. It will leave
Seattle at 14:00 and arrive in Beijing at 16:35 the next day.
The one-way flight will last for about 11 hours. Airbus
A330-200s will be used, offering 36 business class and 186
economy class seats. Hainan Airlines said it will offer a low
price for the tickets, valued at 5,960 yuan (about 839 U.S.
dollars) for a round-trip.
Established in 1993, Hainan Airlines is one of the four

Beijing, Seattle Air Link on the Way
China's Hainan Airlines has applied to operate a non-stop flight
between Beijing and Seattle in the United States starting next June.
Sources with the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC)
confirmed the news on Saturday.After the application is approved,
the airlines will become the fourth Chinese carrier for flights
between China and the US. The other three are Air China, China
Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines. (Click title of this

Airlines Change Ticket Refund Policy
July 10, 2007 - Chinese airline passengers may
get more money back when they cancel domestic flight tickets as some
carriers adopted new service fees.The fee for returning airline
tickets is now determined by discounts rather than when the ticket
is returned, said operators on customer service lines with China
Eastern Airlines and Air China. Both carriers adopted the new

Airlines to Launch
Direct Vancouver-Beijing Flight in July
Xinhua News,
April 2, 2007 - Air Canada, Canada's
flagship airline, will operate a second daily direct flight between
Beijing and Vancouver from July 2 to October 1 this year.
The company will run 211-seat Boeing 767-300
aircraft to meet increasing passenger demand over the summer tourist
peak. The carrier will also increase the
number of flights between Shanghai and Toronto from two to three
times a week from April 13 to June 30, and seven times a week from
July 1 before returning to three a week in winter.
Beijing-Washington
non-stop flights start
China Daily, Mar. 30, 2007 - The maiden
non-stop flight from Washington DC to Beijing arrived at the
capital's airport at 1:55 pm yesterday after a 14-hour flight.
Washington is now the 29th capital city directly linked to Beijing
thanks to the United Airlines flight. (Click

Lufthansa to Fly More
Fights to Shanghai
Shanghai Daily, Mar. 26, 2007 -
Lufthansa German Airlines announced
yesterday that it will fly to Shanghai from Germany three times
daily with the introduction of its 2007 summer timetable, which
starts from Monday. The carrier will raise its flights on the
Shanghai-Frankfurt route by seven flights per week, creating a
double daily service on this route. Lufthansa also operates daily
flights between Shanghai and Munich.
Airlines to Add Singapore-Shanghai Flights
Shanghai Daily Jan.
22, 2007 - Singapore Airlines will add two
direct flights between Singapore and Shanghai starting on March 25,
further strengthening its eastern China network, the airline said
yesterday.
With the new flights, the capacity on the route will increase 11
percent to 31 flights a week. SIA will thus operate a total of 65
flights from Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou and Nanjing to Singapore.
Delta Eyes Atlanta,
Shanghai Flight

Delta Air Lines Inc, the largest American airline without service to
China, has applied to fly non-stop between Atlanta and Shanghai in
2008. The carrier said it has submitted the proposal to the US
Department of Transportation, which will award the new flights early
next year. AMR Corp's American Airlines also plans to bid for more
China flying, spokesman Tim Wagner said. A China route will give
Atlanta-based Delta access to the world's fastest-growing major
economy. Delta is recalling employees, ordering new regional jets
and expanding overseas as it reorganizes and works to fight off US
Airways Group Inc's US$10.2 billion hostile takeover bid.
