Riding Bicycle on Xian City Wall

Visit China with China Tour!

The flight backing to Guangzhou was at 16:00 and half day was left, so I planned to visit the Xian City Wall. After eating a pork sandwiched between flatbread and green bean porridge, the most famous local snacks of Xian, I started my short excursion.

When I came to Xian, my friends told me that the best way to visit City Wall is to ride a bike, which is quite comfortable, relaxing, and convenient. It turned out to be true! I took a bus and got to the South Gate of the wall, where bicycles can be rented. I started climbing the wall from Yongning Gate, one of southern gates of Xian City Wall.

Standing on the wall, I could get a panoramic view of this ancient city, with its ancient buildings within the wall and modern skyscrapers outside it. From here I could get a sense of both the unbeatable charm and profound history of this city.

I rented a bike and started cycling on the wall. It was so incredible to ride on the age-old city wall. I started from the south wall, crossed the east wall, west wall, and north wall before returning to the south wall. It only took about 70 minutes to circle around the roughly 8.5-mile (14 kilometers) circular city wall.

I was able to appreciate the breathtaking scenery of this ancient city while I was riding around. On the way, I encountered many visitors from other countries and said hello to them with enthusiasm. After I finished my excursion, I was so delightful because this riding experience offered me a great chance to get closer to this ancient city.

Riding on the Xian City Wall was rewarding both mentally and physically. With the treasured memories I made, I left Xian and boarded my flight to Guangzhou.
