2015 Spring Festival

Spring Festival is the most important and ceremonious festival in China, which is always celebrated from the first day to the 15th day of the first month in the lunar calendar. 2015 Spring Festival falls on Feb. 19. Associated with Chinese Lunar Calendar, 2015 is the Year of Goat lasting from February 19, 2015 to February 8, 2016. "Goat" shares a similar pronunciation with "Yang" in Chinese which means the positive energy in the universe, so the Year of Goat is regarded as the year of smooth and success.

Chinese Couplets: Chinese couplets are pasted on doorways as a typical way of the new year celebration. The couplets include antithetical on two sides and a horizontal scroll hanging on the top.
Having Reunion Dinners: On the Spring Festival Eve, people working far away from home will get back home for the reunion dinners, during which the young would express their best wishes and toast for the elder's health and happiness.
Firecrackers: Firecrackers are mostly set off at midnight of New Year's Eve, while in some places, people also set off firecrackers on the morning of the first day and in the evening of Lantern Festival.
Lucky Money: Lucky money is given to children by adults and the elderly after the reunion dinner. In folk culture, the children will live safe and sound for the whole year if they get lucky money.
Paying New Year’s Visits: A special way to express good wishes to each in a new year is to visit friends and relatives. The young salute the elder by offering good wishes and gift giving. In response, the older generation give red paper containing money as a gift.
