Free attractions in hot tourist cities of China for summer vacation

Summer vacation is around the corner. Many students have plans to travel after final examination. For students, how do they save enough money but learn more through their travel. It has been said that admission fees to tourist attractions in China are the highest in the world but it is worth nothing that some hot spots are free of charge. Here we list the free attractions in some hot tourist cities.

Beijing

 

The free attraction in Beijing include Tiananmen Square, Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, Shichahai, Hutong areas, 798 Art Zone and Panjiayuan Antique Market. Tiananmen Square is located in the center of Beijing and is the largest city square in the world. The Chairman Mao Memorial Hall is the final resting place of Mao Zedong. This highly popular attraction is located in the middle Tiananmen Square and stand on the previous site of the Gate of China, the southern gate of the Forbidden City. Shichahai is a historical scenic area consisting three lakes: Xihai, Houhai and Qianhai in the north of central Beijing. The ancient buildings like dozens of temples, Siheyuan (Quadrangle Dwellings) and Hutongs are best preserved. 798 Art Zone is famous art center in China. It was once old factory military factory buildings with unique architectural style but now it houses a thriving artistic community. In Panjiayuan, you can see many boutiques.

 

Hangzhou

 

Referring Hangzhou, West Lake must be mentioned. West Lake is world renowned and has been admission-free except some temple since 2002. If you want to visit the natural setting, West Lake is a must-see retreat.

 

Xian

Shaanxi Historical Museum is free to enter. The museum collects 370,000 historical relics ranging from Zhou to Tang dynasties. In the museum, you can see terracotta figurines in different postures, exquisite bronze wares from Shang and Zhou dynasties and murals and silver and gold wares from Tang dynasty, etc. The museum is the symbol of long history and rich culture of Xian.

Big Wild Goose Pagoda is not far away from the museum, about 10-minute-walk distance. The view around Big Wild Goose Pagoda is beautiful and the music fountain is biggest in Asia and free to watch. But the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is charged to enter.

 

Shanghai

 

Shanghai has many free attractions like Shanghai Museum, the Bund, Xintiandi, Zhujiajiao , etc. Although Shanghai museum is free to enter, visitors have to show the valid documents like ID card. On the Band stand 52 buildings of various architectural styles including Gothic, Romanesque, Renaissance and Art Deco. Xintiandi is the place where you can experience the history of culture of old Shanghai and houses very featured traditional buidings, Shikemen.
