Beijing
The free attraction in Beijing include Tiananmen Square, Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, Shichahai, Hutong areas, 798 Art Zone and Panjiayuan Antique Market. Hangzhou
Referring Hangzhou, West Lake must be mentioned. West Lake is world renowned and has been admission-free except some temple since 2002. If you want to visit the natural setting, West Lake is a must-see retreat.
Xian
Shaanxi Historical Museum is free to enter. The museum collects 370,000 historical relics ranging from Zhou to Tang dynasties. In the museum, you can see terracotta figurines in different postures, exquisite bronze wares from Shang and Zhou dynasties and murals and silver and gold wares from Tang dynasty, etc. The museum is the symbol of long history and rich culture of Xian.
Big Wild Goose Pagoda is not far away from the museum, about 10-minute-walk distance. The view around Big Wild Goose Pagoda is beautiful and the music fountain is biggest in Asia and free to watch. But the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is charged to enter.
Shanghai
Shanghai has many free attractions like Shanghai Museum, the Bund, Xintiandi, Zhujiajiao , etc. Although Shanghai museum is free to enter, visitors have to show the valid documents like ID card. On the Band stand 52 buildings of various architectural styles including Gothic, Romanesque, Renaissance and Art Deco. Xintiandi is the place where you can experience the history of culture of old Shanghai and houses very featured traditional buidings, Shikemen.
