Located in the southwest of Changchun City, South Lake Park, with an area of more than 500 acres (220 hectares) is the largest urban park in northeast China and second largest in China as a whole – second only to the Summer Palace in Beijing. With its clear lake, rows of willows, and ancient bridges and pavilions, the South Lake Park is arguably more beautiful than Jiangnan (the area on the south bank of the Yangtze River).
In midsummer and early autumn, some activities like the lantern show and Folk Custom Exhibition are held in the park. In winter, various kinds of activities related to snow attract many tourists.
There is a beautiful isle in the center where you can hear the sounds of nature like birds, wind, trees, etc. Trees and shrubs covers half of the park including coniferous trees, broad-leaved trees and fruit trees, fragrant flowers.
All in all, the park is a fantastic place for people to go for a walk, have a picnic, or catch some sun during the weekend in Changchun.
