Qingxiu Mountain Scenic Area, known as Green Mountain, is perched in the southeast part of Nanning and borders the Yongjiang River. It is known to the world for its undulating hills, lofty peaks, lush trees and breathtaking scenery, and ranks one of the Eight Famous Scenes of Nanning.
During the Song and Ming dynasties, temples and pavilions like Baiyun temple, Changshou temple, Gudu temple, Qingshan Mountain, Dongquan pavilion, Dongxu pavilion, and Longxiang pagoda were built successively. Unfortunately, these were all destroyed by fire or war.
The Qingxiu Mountain Scenic Area stretches just over 1,000 acres (4.07 square kilometers), slightly more than one acre (4,667 square meters) of which is covered by water, and six acres (25,000 square meters), by green trees.
There are many peaks on Qingxiu Mountain and the highest one reaches nearly 1,000 feet (289 meters). Atop the mountain stands an ancient pagoda named Longxiang Pagoda, which is the highest pagoda in Nanning and is regarded as the symbol of Qingxiu Mountain. The pagoda has nine stories, reaching almost 200 feet (60 meters) in height and 40 feet (12 meters) in width.
Standing on the top of the pagoda, visitors can command a panoramic view of Qingxiu Mountain and Nanning city.
Every spring when peaches are in full blossom,the Peach Art Festival is held near Qingxiu Mountain, which is always a big hit among tourists.
The New Year Temple Fair is held in Qingxiu Mountain every year. During the fair, numerous folk activities can be seen and various local snacks are on displayed, brimming with a joyful new year atmosphere.
