As one of the famous streets in Chengdu, Kuanzhai Lane is regarded as the oldest street which in Chengdu City. Built during the Ming Dynasty, Kuanzhai Lane is composed of Kuan (Wide) Lane, Zhai (Narrow) Lane and Jing Lane. These three paralleled lanes each have different styles.
Walking along Kuan Lane, you can witness the original life style of the locals which cannot be seen in other parts of Chengdu. Western-style Buildings Plaza, the most characteristic building, was once the private house of a rich family in the past. It was gradually turned into a church. The area centering on the plaza becomes an center point of Kuanzhai Lane.
Zhai Lane is packed with well-preserved and traditional buildings featuring the Slow Life of Chengdu. The Zhai Lane after renovation displays the courtyard culture of Chengdu. The various kinds of flowers and trees are planted in the courtyard.
