Use Your
Cell Phone in China |
|
Few
people realize that China has far more cell phone users
than any other country in the world. Unbeknownst to
many, the coverage and quality of China's cellular
service is superior to what either the US and Canada
currently have to offer. Furthermore, the rates are very
accessible, allowing the majority of the Chinese to be
able to afford a cell phone. Yet many business travelers
and tourists going to China continue to rent cell a cell
phone through conventional avenues and pay exorbitant
prices! Click here to read an article explaining how you
too can tap into the same affordable cell phone rates
that the Chinese pay! (For details,

China
to be world's 3rd largest market for business travel in 5
years
People's Daily, April 14, 2005 - American Express Business
Travel released the result of its second survey of corporate
travel management service in China market on April 13 in
Shanghai. The survey has found that China will become the
world's third largest market for corporate travel in five
years after the fastest growth in the world. The survey shows
that the spending on international business travel by China
approximates 4.2 billion USD a year, which is 17 percent of
the Asian market for business travel. This, plus some 20
billion USD spending on the domestic business travel in China,
comes to nearly 25 billion USD. The robust growth of China's
GDP is very likely to secure a two-digital rise of China's
business travel market in the years to come. It is estimated
that the number of Chinese business travelers will be 5 times
as many as that at present by 2020. As learned the potential
of China market for business travel has caught eye of
international travel service providers. Global giants such as
American Express, Kar Shun Travel, Rosenbluth have all made
their forays in China. Their operation in China are mostly
based on joint ventures. According to China's WTO document,
solely foreign funded travel agents will be allowed as of the
end of 2005. Chinese travel companies such as Ctrip, elong,
have all launched their business travel services.
HKTB launches PDA leisure guide for business visitors
Xinhuanet, May 5 (Xinhuanet) -- The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB)
officially launched the personal digital assistant (PDA) version of
its Leisure Guide for Business Travelers on Thursday. The launch of
this new electronic guide falls under the
promotional strategies of the "2006 Discover of Hong Kong Year"
campaign, which targets key segments, including high-yield business
travelers, according to the HKTB. By providing these travelers with
instant access to information about Hong Kong, the PDA leisure guide
will help them explore the new facets of the city, and encourage them
to extend their stay and spending by taking part in more leisure
activities... (full

Share My China
Experience:
How calculators
saved the day
Business World India These days a 'China-returned' Indian is a
lot like the 'US-returned' of the 1980s and 1990s. People mob you to
ask about the amazing progress that the dragon-land has made, with
screams of "Reeeeally?" for almost any episode being narrated. Here
are a few anecdotes from my China experience: If you are venturing out
alone onto the streets of China, only a calculator can save your day.
There's little hope otherwise. Communicating with people there is
slightly more difficult than communicating with a newborn. Almost
everybody does not speak English. Embarrassed shopkeepers often
sportingly resort to the calculator to quote prices. Or help you with
the police helpline if you wish. And trust me, aptitude in dumb
charades does not help either (full
