Anhui General Information
Mostly covered by plain and hill areas, Anhui Province is situated in
the northwest part of China. It got its name from abbreviation of two
areas Anqing and Huizhou. Anhui occupies an area of over 139.000 square
kilometers with a population of 59,86 million (2006 )subdividing into
the Han, the Hui, the She and other nationalities.
Hefei is its provincial capital.

Anhui Climate
It has a monsoon climate, but the south part of it is in the
subtropical zone and the north part in the warm temperate zone. The
average annual rainfall is 750mm-1700mm.
Anhui Local Products
It is rich in such produce as ramie, tobacco leaf and cotton in the
Huaihe River valley, as tea and bamboo in the mountain area and as fish,
shrimp and crab in the Chaohu Lake and Changjiang River. The local
products include Hui tea, pear, yangtao, white bait, Gujinggong wine,
Hui ink-stick, Xuan paper.
