Day 2: Arrive in Beijing (In-flight Meal)
When you arrive at the Beijing Capital International Airport, you’ll get your first experience of China. The country is a combination of social rituals that go back for centuries and the modernization of a growing economy. Our guide will show you to your luxurious hotel.

Summer Palace

Day 3: Experience Beijing
You’ll begin your Beijing tour with a visit to Tiananmen Square, the largest city squares in the world, which was originally built in 1651, and then massively enlarged in the 1950s. The second stop is Forbidden City, the imperial palace for Chinese emperors from the Ming Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty, which was designated a World Heritage Site in 1987. About 40 minutes from the Forbidden City is the Summer Palace, where the emperors enjoyed a summer retreat during the Qing Dynasty. Today’s tour culminates with a Peking Duck Banquet, one of the most popular dishes in China. The food will be prepared right in front of you by a master chef and served with pancakes, spring onions, and sweet bean sauce.

Great Wall of China(Chang Cheng)

Day 4: Explore Beijing
Today you’ll visit the Great Wall of China, which is one of the most incredible man-made wonders of the world and one of the most popular attractions in China. Then our guide will take you to tour the National Stadium and the National Aquatics Center where the 2008 Summer Olympics were held. The National Stadium has been called the “Bird’s Nest” because of the steel beams that conceal the supports for the retractable roof and the Aquatics Center is dubbed as Water Cube where U.S. swimmer Michael Phelps secured his Gold Medal. The next stop is at the Beijing Zoo, where you will get to see the lovely giant pandas up close. After dinner, you’ll enjoy the iconic martial arts performance - “Legend of Kung Fu”.

Day 5: Beijing to Xi'an
You’ll have a very traditional experience today as you travel by rickshaw to another Chinese treasure – Hutongs, which are alleys that formed in between various courtyard houses. Next you’ll visit the exotic Lotus Flower Market. These flowers grow in the mud at the bottom of different bodies of water, but their beauty has come to signify Buddhist non-attachment and sexual purity. Just stroll through the market to find some incredible souvenirs. In the late afternoon you’ll fly to Xi’an, the former capital of China. After enjoying dinner in the new location, you’ll explore the Great Mosque and Muslim Food Street at the Muslim community.

Terra Cotta Warriors (Bing Ma Yong)

Day 6: Explore Xi'an
Today’s highlight is the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses Museum, which is known as the “Eighth Wonder of the World”. You’ll be amazed by over 8,000 unique terra cotta figures and the thousands of weapons that had been buried about 2,000 years ago to guard the dead First Emperor of China in the afterlife. The next stop is the Bell Tower, a landmark of Xi’an, which was built in the Ming Dynasty. Tonight will be the feast of the Imperial Dumpling Banquet, and right after that you’ll enjoy the wonderful Tang Dynasty Stage Show.

Day 7: Xi'an to Guilin
In the morning, our guide will lead you to Big Wild Goose Pagoda, an amazing monastery was constructed in 652 to house the precious sutras brought by the monk Xuan Zang, who was something like the Chinese version of Marco Polo because he made his pilgrimage to India (which was made famous in the novel “Journey to the West”) and returned with many special artifacts. Then visit the Ancient City Wall of Xi’an by bicycle, which is actually better preserved than the Great Wall. Then board a plane to Guilin, a top tourist destination in China.

Lijiang River

Day 8: Guilin to Yangshuo
Today you’ll take a long, relaxing cruise down the Lijiang River from Guilin to Yangshuo. Here you’ll find yourself surrounded by beautiful hills and bamboo as you float down the crystal clear water. Have a lunch on the boat. Upon arriving at Yangshuo, you’ll have a half day to explore the small town on your own. You can either walk or ride a bicycle around West Street (a road that is paved with marble and is at least 1,400 years old) or head to the shopping district to see some of the unique and charming stores in the area. In the evening, enjoy a splendid show - “Impressions of Sister Liu”, which is performed by many of the local villagers and fishermen.

Day 9: Yangshuo and Guilin to Chongqing
Fly to Mountain City of Chongqing after breakfast. If time permits, you’ll have the chance to stop off at the Ciqikou Old Street where travelers and locals crowd the streets to get a look at some of the shops selling porcelain, handicrafts, and other gifts. Tonight you can enjoy a great Chongqing Hot Pot Dinner, a sort of East Asian variety of stew.

Dazu Grottos

Day 10: Chongqing and Dazu Grottoes to Yangtze River Cruise
In the morning, you’ll visit the Dazu Grottoes, a series of Chinese religious sculptures and carvings that depict some important Buddhist, Confucian, and Taoist beliefs, which were originally started in the first year of Emperor Yonghui of the Tang Dynasty (between 618 and 907). Then you’ll embark on the President Prime cruise ship to begin the majestic Yangtze River cruise adventure.

Ghost City Fengdu

Day 11: Cruise on Yangtze
The first excursion today is at the “Ghost City” of Fengdu. This area contains a lot of statues that depict devils and ghosts that roam the afterworld. Tonight there will be a Captain’s Welcome Dinner Party.

Qutang Gorge

Day 12: Cruise on Yangtze
Sail through Qutang Gorge, the shortest but the most dramatic of the Three Gorges, and Wu Gorge, the most beautiful one. You’ll disembark today at Wushan and then board a small riverboat to take a leisurely trip through Shennong Stream. This area features clear running waters and incredible rock formations where you can spot monkeys and goats along the bank as you gently drift along the stream and pass through the Shiplock of the new Three Gorges Dam. You’ll experience the little trip in a sampan, a small boat about 40-feet long, 6-feet wide and usually steered by six boatmen.

The Bund (Wai Tan)

Day 13: Yichang to Shanghai
This morning you’ll disembark and visit the huge Three Gorges Dam Project, the world’s largest dam. The ship will sail through Xiling Gorge today, the longest of the Three Gorges, and you’ll finally disembark for the final time at Yichang. From here, you will board a flight to Shanghai.

Day 14: Experience Shanghai
Today you’ll experience some of the modern commercial aspects of Shanghai along Nanjing Road and Old Street, and then go and soak up some of the traditional culture at the Shanghai Museum, where there are over 120,000 exhibits from different dynasties. Then, take some time to visit the Bund, the financial center of China that is very similar to Manhattan’s Wall Street. This is where the financial transactions happen that affect both China and many other parts of the world. In the evening, join the farewell dinner of Shanghai Cuisine and then enjoy the amazing Acrobatic Show.

Begin your day visiting the TEMPLE OF LITERATURE, a peaceful series of walled courtyards and graceful gateways, and one of the best serving examples of traditional Vietnamese architecture. Founded in 1070 and dedicated to Confucius, this was also the site of Vietnam's first university.
Continue to the miniature ONE PILLAR PAGODA. Also dating from the 11th century, this monument was rebuilt after being destroyed by the French in 1954. Today it stands near the vast HO CHI MINH MEMORIAL COMPLEX, a lovely park setting which is home to Ho Chi Minh's final resting place, as well as a museum and other memorials. Begin at the HO CHI MINH MAUSOLEUM, where visitors can pay respects to the embalmed body of Ho Chi Minh. The Mausoleum is closed on every Mondays and Fridays and closes annually in October and November for restoration. Continue through the park to HO CHI MINH'S STILT HOUSE,the simple two-room dwelling where Ho Chi Minh lived from 1958 until his final days ( 1969). Preserved in the same condition as during his life, it may be viewed through the windows. Afterwards head to visit one of Hanoi's famous museums, the MUSEUM OF ETHNOLOGY (Closed on Mondays and Vietnam New Year), which brings to life the astonishing ethnic diversity in Vietnam, with art and artifacts from the 54 different ethnic groups that inhabit the country. Inside the museum are detailed descriptions of minority groups, with examples of their traditional clothing and way of life. Outside are faithful reconstructions of traditional longhouses, cemeteries and other distinctive ethnic buildings. In the afternoon, visit HOAN KIEM LAKE and Ngoc Son Temple, located in heart of Hanoi, which contains an islet with the tiny TORTOISE PAGODA. Enroute, pass other colonial landmarks such as the magnificent OPERA HOUSE (may be seen from the outside only) and ST JOSEPH'S CATHEDRAL. From the lake, begin exploring the OLD QUARTER by CYCLO This fascinating network of narrow alleys and shop houses is also known as 'The 36 Streets,' each street being named after the merchandise traditionally sold there, ranging from fabrics to crafts to medicines to tombstones. A handicraft-lover's paradise and a endlessly interesting place to explore local life. Visit Angkor Wat – The crowning jewel of Khmer architecture, ANGKOR WAT is the national symbol and the highlight of any visit to Cambodia. The largest, best preserved, and most religiously significant of the Angkor temples, Angkor impresses visitors both by its sheer scale and beautifully proportioned layout, as well as the delicate artistry of its carvings. To approach the temple, first cross the vast moat, continuing along a broad causeway lined with naga balustrades. As you enter the main building, ascend through a series of galleries and courtyard before reaching the central sanctuary, which offers beautiful views back over the causeway and across the surrounding countryside. On the way, stop to enjoy the intricate stonecarvings that adorn nearly every surface, with some 1,700 Apsaras, or celestial dancers, sculpted into the walls. Along the outer gallery walls run the longest continuous bas-relief in the world, which narrates stories from Hindu mythology, including the famous Churning of the Ocean of Milk. Angkor Wat is stunning at any time of the day, but sunrise and sunset are especially beautiful times to watch the play of light on the stones.
Visit Angkor Thom - The fortified city of ANGKOR THOM covers an area of 10 square km. Enclosed by a wall and wide moats, the city includes many of Angkor's most popular sights. Enter by the monumental SOUTH GATE over a causeway lined on either side by statues of demons and gods, each carrying a giant naga. Continue to the TERRACE OF THE ELEPHANTS and the TERRACE OF THE LEPER KINGS, former spaces for public cermonies, both adorned with dramatic bas reliefs. Visit the ruined BAPHUON, ROYAL ENCLOSURE and PHIMEANAKAS before continuing to the mysterious BAYON TEMPLE. In this temple, one of the most popular and compelling in Angkor, explore the galleries of beautifully preserved bas reliefs and ascend narrow stairs to reach the central sanctuary, where you will find giant stone faces smiling enigmatically down at you from every angle.
Visit Ta Prohm - TA PROHM: one of the most popular attractions of Angkor as much of the jungle has not been cleared and it looks very much as most of the Angkor monuments would have appeared when European explorers first stumbled across them.Visit a temple for sunset - Watch the sun set over the Cambodian countryside from the upper terraces of an ancient Angkorian temple.

give the city an air of elegance and harmony with nature unique among Asian capitals. Begin your day visiting the TEMPLE OF LITERATURE, a peaceful series of walled courtyards and graceful gateways, and one of the best serving examples of traditional Vietnamese architecture. Founded in 1070 and dedicated to Confucius, this was also the site of Vietnam's first university.
Continue to the miniature ONE PILLAR PAGODA. Also dating from the 11th century, this monument was rebuilt after being destroyed by the French in 1954. Today it stands near the vast HO CHI MINH MEMORIAL COMPLEX, a lovely park setting which is home to Ho Chi Minh's final resting place, as well as a museum and other memorials. Begin at the HO CHI MINH MAUSOLEUM, where visitors can pay respects to the embalmed body of Ho Chi Minh. The Mausoleum is closed on every Mondays and Fridays and closes annually in October and November for restoration. Continue through the park to HO CHI MINH'S STILT HOUSE,the simple two-room dwelling where Ho Chi Minh lived from 1958 until his final days ( 1969). Preserved in the same condition as during his life, it may be viewed through the windows. Afterwards head to visit one of Hanoi's famous museums, the MUSEUM OF ETHNOLOGY (Closed on Mondays and Vietnam New Year), which brings to life the astonishing ethnic diversity in Vietnam, with art and artifacts from the 54 different ethnic groups that inhabit the country. Inside the museum are detailed descriptions of minority groups, with examples of their traditional clothing and way of life. Outside are faithful reconstructions of traditional longhouses, cemeteries and other distinctive ethnic buildings. In the afternoon, visit HOAN KIEM LAKE and Ngoc Son Temple, located in heart of Hanoi, which contains an islet with the tiny TORTOISE PAGODA. Enroute, pass other colonial landmarks such as the magnificent OPERA HOUSE (may be seen from the outside only) and ST JOSEPH'S CATHEDRAL. From the lake, begin exploring the OLD QUARTER by CYCLO This fascinating network of narrow alleys and shop houses is also known as 'The 36 Streets,' each street being named after the merchandise traditionally sold there, ranging from fabrics to crafts to medicines to tombstones. A handicraft-lover's paradise and a endlessly interesting place to explore local life. The cyclo ride lasts approximately one hour.WATER PUPPET SHOW: a fantastic art form originating in the northern Vietnam, best seen in Hanoi.

From Saigon, drive to TAY NINH, the birthplace of the unique CAO DAI religion, a fusion of Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Christianity, Islam and native Vietnamese spiritual beliefs. Every day at noon, worshippers garbed in colorful robes flock to the CAO DAI GREAT TEMPLE to participate in the daily prayer sessions, which visitors may respectfully observe from the upper balconies. (Note: shortly before and during the annual TET festival (Vietnamese New Year) the daily ceremony of the priests in Tay Ninh may be cancelled without prior notice). Afterwards, continue to the CU CHI TUNNELS. Never discovered by American forces, these tunnels were an important Vietcong base during the American War. Stretching over 200 km, this incredible underground network, dug by hand out of hard laterite, connected command posts, hospitals, shelter and weapon factories. Today, you can walk through the area and learn about the day-to-day life of the VC, see the cleverly disguised entrances and elaborate booby-traps, and even venture inside the tunnels, some of which have been modified to accommodate tourists. Return to Saigon in the late afternoon.

A vibrant metropolis, SAIGON teems with energy, activity and motion. Everywhere you look, you see the meeting of traditional and modern life. The emerging modern skyline stands cheek by jowl with colonial buildings and traditional temples. Outside on the streets, young professionals zip by on motorbikes, chatting on cell phones; inside the quiet temple courtyards, worshippers pray amidst clouds of incense. Begin your tour of this exciting city with a tour of the historic center, strolling along DONG KHOI STREET, formerly known as the Rue Catinat, the main shopping thoroughfare and heart of old colonial Saigon. Continue to the harrowing WAR REMNANTS MUSEUM, which comprehensively documents the travails of the long Vietnam- American War. Inside are detailed photographic exhibitions; outside is a collection of tanks, planes and weapons. A powerful experience, this museum is guaranteed to provoke strong emotions. Afterwards driving to the historic center to visit EMPEROR OF JADE PAGODA, one of Saigon's most interesting pagodas.
In the afternoon, head out to CHOLON (CHINATOWN). Explore the highlights of this fascinating area, beginning with a brief visit to BINH TAY MARKET, the vast wholesale market selling every kind of good from dried foods to T shirts to electronics. Continue to THIEN HAU PAGODA, build by the Cantonese congregation and dedicated to the heavenly goddess. End your tour at the central BEN THANH MARKET, where vendors display a vast array of goods and handicrafts, appealing to every taste. Later fly to Siem Reap.

Visit Angkor Wat – The crowning jewel of Khmer architecture, ANGKOR WAT is the national symbol and the highlight of any visit to Cambodia. The largest, best preserved, and most religiously significant of the Angkor temples, Angkor impresses visitors both by its sheer scale and beautifully proportioned layout, as well as the delicate artistry of its carvings. To approach the temple, first cross the vast moat, continuing along a broad causeway lined with naga balustrades. As you enter the main building, ascend through a series of galleries and courtyard before reaching the central sanctuary, which offers beautiful views back over the causeway and across the surrounding countryside. On the way, stop to enjoy the intricate stonecarvings that adorn nearly every surface, with some 1,700 Apsaras, or celestial dancers, sculpted into the walls. Along the outer gallery walls run the longest continuous bas-relief in the world, which narrates stories from Hindu mythology, including the famous Churning of the Ocean of Milk. Angkor Wat is stunning at any time of the day, but sunrise and sunset are especially beautiful times to watch the play of light on the stones.
Visit Angkor Thom - The fortified city of ANGKOR THOM covers an area of 10 square km. Enclosed by a wall and wide moats, the city includes many of Angkor's most popular sights. Enter by the monumental SOUTH GATE over a causeway lined on either side by statues of demons and gods, each carrying a giant naga. Continue to the TERRACE OF THE ELEPHANTS and the TERRACE OF THE LEPER KINGS, former spaces for public cermonies, both adorned with dramatic bas reliefs. Visit the ruined BAPHUON, ROYAL ENCLOSURE and PHIMEANAKAS before continuing to the mysterious BAYON TEMPLE. In this temple, one of the most popular and compelling in Angkor, explore the galleries of beautifully preserved bas reliefs and ascend narrow stairs to reach the central sanctuary, where you will find giant stone faces smiling enigmatically down at you from every angle.

Again, a most wonderful and excellent experience.
There is a huge economic disparity between the classes. Wealthy citizens all drive Audi. And not the little A-4 but the "flagship" A-8L or the A-6L. As you know, a sign of status and achievement is to drive a luxery car. (Audi, Mercedes, Lexus, Jaguar, Porsche, etc). Poor people still buy from street vendors and ride bicycles.
Our tour guides were very professional. In Beijing we had June. She shared a great deal of knowledge. Unfortunately, some of the members of our tour did not show here proper respect. They wanted to set their own schedule. If they say anything bad about June, it must be ignored. June is a professional deserving respect.
In Xi'an we had Jerry. He was even better than June. So much information to share about the wonderful history and culture of China.
In Shanghai and the two other cities we had Peter. He was the best, but again, all three were professionals. He shared his excellent knowledge and imparted a wealth of information about Chinese culture and history.
I will share my experience on TripAdvisor and will be giving a top review. Your tour offers exceptional value.
Not only was the trip excellent, but your coordination of everything in advance was perfect. For example, you handled the Visas perfectly. Your service was excellent in all regards. That is as important as the trip.

The tours were good and the food and hotels were very good, better than expected. I did find some of the shopping a little long, but that is me personally and it certainly did not put a bad spin on the trip.
When I became ill everyone was very helpful and nice. I can't say enough about Tony the hotel rep who checked on me numerous times to see how I was feeling.
The three tour guides were excellent; all with a different style. I did not see any guide become rude or unhelpful to anyone on the tour.

We enjoyed the trip immencely and we have recommended your company for a source of service. Your offer was almost too good to be true, but everything about the tour was great. The participants were all great and it improved the tour with all of the other tour participants. The family with the baby was actually one of the high lights of the group. The mom and dad had the best behaved child. They did have the ticket problem at every airport with the added ticket, but the tour guides and agents worked with them and took good care of the family. I know it was a hassle for them but the tour guide could not have done more than what they did to assist and make matters right.
The trip was excellent from all aspects and I would be interested in any future offerings.
The hotel accommodations and the food experiences were great. The room accommodations at Shanghai was the only place that could have been improved, but the location and food was good and we had been spoiled at all of the other locations.
The tour was a real education and an experience we would not want to miss. China and the people are so nice and the experience of seeing the cities and getting the insight provided by the your guides was almost perfect. I cannot recommend any changes for improvement. Oh. One of the extras that really needs to be a part of the standard tour is the canal boat trip at Souzshaoe. Peter was able to include that as an add on, but everyone in the group agreed that that was one of the high lights of the trip. David and Cindy and Peter our three guides get the highest marks for their jobs in assuring that we saw the best China Tours had to offer. Thanks for allowing us to participate. I overheard this individual make bad comments about the tour and the food and I completely disagree with her. I Have told everyone how wonderful the experience was and that I recommend all my friends and family take similar tours with your group. I was surprised how good the food was and how nice the tour buses and hotels were. I recognized that we were paying a very low price and did not expect the accommodations to be as nice as they were. I became very close with many of the other members of the tour, and we all discussed how this one individual was way out of line with her comments. We realize that going to the shops and spending money was a way to supplement the trip and make it more affordable for everyone. The guides and drivers were all very knowledgeable and very friendly. They really made the trip a great experience. We so much enjoyed our 10-day tour through China. I think my favorite places were the Great Wall, the Li River trip, the terra cotta warriors in Xi'an (amazing!), and the Museum in Shanghai. It was very cold the day we visited the Forbidden City, and the children didn't last long outside, even with winter coats, hats, mittens. We bought several nice items during the trip, including a piece of furniture which will be shipped to Boston by February. The guides were informative and flexible, the drivers very good (hard to drive in Shanghai and Beijing, so I saw!). The food was good earlier in the tour, but not so delicious in the factories and by the end of the tour. And for us, every meal was all much too much food. We threw so much away; I felt wasteful! But it was convenient not to have to find our own meals.
I will certainly highly recommend China Tour to my friends and colleagues. Thank you for this wonderful experience--once in a lifetime! (Although, my husband and I are thinking we should do the Silk Road tour, without the children, some time in the future).

We arrived home early this morning! We all have a little jet lag, but we are still excited about the wonderful time we had. It was a whirlwind of activities with so much to do. Each guide was unique and perfect for the area we were visiting. Everyone did a great job of meeting our itinerary, but allowing us the option to have some down time if needed. The visits with both Welfare Institutes were more than we expected. We brought pictures we took when our daughters adoptions took place. In Wuhu, they contacted Kendall's nanny (who had recently retired) and she joined us for lunch. It was a wonderful connection. When we went to Hanchuan, the workers and caregivers from when Carlin was adopted were retired and unavailable. They brought us to the original institute so Carlin could see the place she was found and see the rooms she played and slept in.

Both Institutes welcomed us with large signs and joined us for lunch. We really appreciate all the arrangement you made to make this such a memorable visit. I've attached a few photos.

The food was plentiful with a large variety- we really enjoyed it. The hotel accommodations were very nice. Everyone was friendly and welcoming to our family.

Sherry, I especially appreciate you being so accessible to answer questions and do all the planning behind this trip. We have never taken an organized tour before. I was so happy we chose China Tour. I have only one suggestion: On the day you visit the Forbidden City don't schedule any other walking tour, it was exhausting.Even Jason who is 16 and healthy was extremely tired with sore legs. All of our guides were wonderful. They were all friendly, knowledgable, and very organized. I want to especially praise our guide ,Daisy, in Guillin. She went out of her way for us and was an absolute joy to be with. I hated to leave her. She noticed that Jason did not eat well one day and she made a special trip to bring him a pizza for his dinner. I was frightened of the ski-lift up the mountain and she rode with me, patted my hand, chatted with me and kept me calm so I had a wonderful ride. If I'm ever back in China I hope I can spend time with her again. Thanks again and be sure I would recommend you and your company to everyone. Also, our favorite part of the trip was Guillin. we just got back from our China tour, I can't wait to give you my evaluation of the tour, as overall we all had a great time, thank you for arranging such a great trip for us. Here are my overall review of the trip:

Beijing:

The pickup and drop off at the hotel was prompt and efficient.
Our tour guide, jessica, was excellent and her willingness to work with us on what we wanted to do was outstanding. We also enjoyed the company of Fiona Lu.
Our accomodation at Oriental Bay was great, the area has improved since I last stayed there in 2005.
Our food was good, but I think the Peking Duck dinner could have used more presentation when they slice the duck.
The tour itinenery was very good, much improved from the last 2 times.

Xian:

We had no problem with our transportation, everything was very prompt.
The places we visited were very informative, and it wasn't as busy as our last visit in 2008.
Titan Times was great, much better than the last hotel we stayed in 2005 and 2008.
Our tour guide, Howard, was good and knowledgeable; however, we like for him to improve on his honesty. On several occasions, he was not preceived as "up and up" by our group. An example was when he try to charge us more to go to a "underground Museum".
We also missed going to the Wild Goose Pagoda, which is the only mentioned spot that we missed from the whole trip.
Overall, however, Xian had the best food selections for the whole trip.

Shanghai, Hanzhou and Suzhou

Our tour guide met us at the airport right on time.
Our guide, Hyphen, is young and enthusiastic. We enjoyed his forthcomingness and eagerness to please. He's also very knowledgeable of his subject matters.
All the hotels were excellent, we especially enjoyed the breakfast buffets in those hotels.
Generally the food served were very good selections and everyone enjoyed the different types of food.
Our itinenary was also very good and we enjoyed all the places we visited.

Overall:

Everyone had a wonderful time, we can't wait to go back; so maybe in a year or two, I'll be contacting you for a trip to Three Gorges or Guilin or Pearl River Delta. We sincerely appreciate all your hard work, please express our gratitude to all those who helped on this tour and share this e-mail with them.

This is a very belated thank you, but I wanted you to know how much we enjoyed our experience with chinatour.com. You were always so helpful with all my questions, and provided good details and follow-up on everything. We had a fun, fast-paced tour, but we truly did experience so much of China during our trip, May 23-June 6, 2010. I must tell you that the accommodations, plane rides, food, and travel itineraries were awesome.

Our guides were all very professional and knowledgeable, especially our national guide, Jing. Jing was well-organized, and worked well tomeet the needs (sometimes demands) of the group while juggling the time constraints of the travel schedules. All in all, she was very professional, pleasant, accountable, and really did an outstanding job on our tour. I've already recommended chinatour.com to others. Les published a photo of our family standing in front of the Forbidden City in our local newspaper, and so many people have called or asked us about China and the trip. When we tell them all the things we saw and did, they are amazed. Some have traveled to China before, but they did not experience the level of service and variation in tour options. The Expo in Shanghai was the icing on the cake, and I hope to visit China again in the near future. I would like to spend more time in Shanghai, Xian, Beijing, the Yangshuo, and the countryside. I would also love to visit Hong Kong too. Well, I just wanted to thank you and the rest of the company for a great time. By the way, we also met the owner of chinatour.com in Beijing. We have just returned from the China Tibet 16 day Mystery Tour.

We were met promplty at every stop, and taken to and promptly picked up at each airport by the tour guides, who all spoke excellent English and were very friendly and knowledgeable. The food on the tour ranged from very good to excellent to outstanding. All the hotels were four or five stars, and the boat ride was a lot of fun. I was surprised about the room on the boat. We Recently took a trip down the Danube sponsored by grand Circle and the beds were rock hard and the whole room was extremely cramped. The rooms in the boat were like a small motel with two comfortable twin sized beds.

Everyone we traveled with gave the whole tour high marks, and all had a wonderful time. Feel free to have anyone call me if they would like my comments about the tour. Thanks

Jeffrey, we are back from China. Everything was absolutely fantastic although pretty hectic. The days were very full with all the sightseeing. The hotels were exceptional especially the one in Yangshou with its antique furniture and the latest lighting technology.

Since I was in China in 1993, it was especially interesting to see the tremendous changes that have happened. We were astounded by all the skycrapers in Bejing and Shanghai and all the cars instead of bikes. Of course, we made the trip on Mag train to Tienjin.

The historical city of Xian and the beautiful countryside around Guilin brought some memories back to the China in 1993. By the way, the outdoor evening performance in Yangshou was fantastic. I can see why they asked the director to organize the opening ceremony of the Olympics.

Shangahi was absolutely stunning. We wished we could have had a little more time there in order to see the Expo and various other places. Some of the people on the tour did stay extra days-we wish we had thought about that.

Anyway, all in all in was a great trip especially in light of that it will probably be my last one to China - too many other places in the world still to see including Vietnam and Ankor Wat. Let me know if you have tours there.

The hotels all deserve their five-star status; our rooms were lovely and, except for the hotel in Beijing, were in fine areas of the cities for walking and exploring on our own. The guides (except for the man in Chonqing) were first-rate in all respects -- excellent English, warm personalities, knowledgeable, flexible, solicitous. The drivers handled difficult traffic well; we always felt in good hands. The places we were shown were interesting and, in many cases, lovely. We were always met in a timely fashion by a friendly face. The Yangtze River boat was excellent, too, and we enjoyed the trip despite the poor, misty, rainy weather.

We have just recently returned from China where we spent an exceptional 16 days on your "Magnificent Yangtse" tour. Right from the beginning when your tour guide picked us up at the cruise ship port in Beijing to the final day when we said goodbye in Shanghai, the tour was truly "magnificent".

We were very impressed with our tour guides. They all proved to be extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our time with each and every one of them. They were especially helpful with our airport transfers. I don't know how we would have gotten along without them.

The tour itinerary was excellent and we enjoyed each and every minute. The meals, for the most part were great and the accommodation was first class. The tour buses were clean and provided ample room even for a guy my size (6'6" with long legs).

China itself is absolutely fantastic and we have no hesitation in recommending your tour company to our friends to show them the true magnificence of the country.

Just to let you know that we enjoyed our trip to China very much. The first portion of our tour with the group of 24-27 people from Beijing to Shanghai was rather interesting. We are aware that a few people complained but they didn't speak for all of us. We were there to see China and it was shown to us. The hotels were nice and the food was good and plentiful. The cruise ship on the Yantze River might have been less than a 4 stars according to our standard but we were given the chance to upgrade for an extra $40.00 per night. We figured that they knew we would want better accomodation since the rooms we vacated were filled right away by Chinese tourists. Our tour to the Yunnan province was great. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery, the cultural aspect of the different minorities. The food was not as great as the first portion of our trip but I guess that by then we were just tired of chinese food. The hotel in Shangri-la was very cold. With the temperature going down to -6 degres at night and the heat turned on for only 2-3 hours in the evening, it was cold. We were given a room on the top floor and at the end of the building giving us 3 outside walls, it didn't help the situation. But we did have a good sleep. Our tour guides were all very good. Our driver in the Yunnan province was very skilled as a driver, but he couldn't speak one word of English. There wasn't much communication between us. We were a little surprised that my husband and I were alone on that tour. The company of a few more people would have been nice. It had his pros and cons. All in all we enjoyed the China experience and we will have good memories of our trip. For the money we paid we were well served.

It is so good to hear from you! You were sooooo great to work with while planning our China trip and the trip was so much more than we ever dreamed. As you know I took a 13/half year old and a 34 year old (ha!). You paired us up with a man about my age, who took two 14 year olds, a 17 year old, and a 23 and 24 year old. The two groups were an absolute perfect match. All those kids from young to older blended perfectly, like a family. As a matter of fact we are looking to take an annual vacation together each. I don't know how to say this but those kids "rocked" China! We loved everything you had planned and we loved the guides who who young and also became a part of the family. We are trying to match our female guide from Beijing and our male guide from Xian together. We told them if they get married we want them to honeymoon with us in America. We have invited both of them to come to America anyway and stay with us. They were awesome. The guide for the last part of the trip was very nice but was more of her job description...a guide. Please do not let our guides get in trouble for showing us wonderful times after they go off work. We actually kidnapped them. We were not crazy about the Best Western Hotel we stayed in but it was only for one night. I would suggest they change that. We were really upset when we had to change guides after Beijing. We told our guide that! We told him we had a fabulous guide in Beijing and wanted to keep her. He promised to make our time with him equally as good and he did. Everywhere we went was great. We loved the Great Wall. I came down the wrong way and had to get a young policeman who spoke no English to help me find my group. That was quite exciting. Somehow he got me back to them and I was no where close to where I should be. I gave him a Carolina Panthers hat. We enjoyed riding bikes on the wall of Xiam. We loved the Terra Cotta Museum. I bought a life size Emperor...The one that had the soldiers made. He is on a ship somewhere in the middle of the ocean on his way to his new home.right now. We learned so much at all the factories, silk, pearl, tea, etc.. We really helped China's economy because we dropped alot of money and we all gave out of money! The people of China were wonderful, we loved them. The driving in China must be the most insane in all the world! The food was really good. It was really nice when on the last couple of days our places of eating would have a little American food mixed in. Some of the younger kids were super picky and I thought they were going to wasted away from not eating on a couple of days. OMG..I have a huge suggestion. Please do not fly the groups thru New York ever. It is a 100% chance you are going to encounter a flying nightmare going thru New York. Read my blog The Joys Of Flying. It is the same story every time we fly through New York. Newark is not really better. Also our travel mates flew Continental and each seat had a tv and games and they had non stop snack, etc.. China Air had one big screen in the front of each section and showed the same movie going and coming. There was a great difference in the travel of the two airlines.I am recommending you guys to everyone. I want to thank you for being so great to work with and providing an excellent trip at an excellent price. I have started blogging but so far I have only written the funny after hours things and my flying nightmare. The man we were teamed up with...Charles Canady is going to put everyones blogs and pictures together and publish a book. I will keep you posted or better yet stay in touch with me because my brain is always going in a thousand different directions.

We also had a great time trying many new delicious dishes from the various cities we visited yet some of us still were able to visit McDonald's, KFC, and Starbucks which was amazing. It seems that McDonald's and KFC taste better in China than USA. The stores are all much larger then here in the United States.

Firstly as I told you my husband had his operation April 1st and we were reluctant to take the trip. Due to tender loving care of Tao and your dear self we were treated with the utmost kindness and consideration .Many of our friends were concerned that we knew nothing of your Travel agency, but I can now assure them that we have never had a vacation as good as this one. I picked your agency because I thought you would know more about the country, and that proved to be correct.

The number of other passengers being 8 plus us total of 10 people was the nicest possible, as we were able to load and unload our buses with speed allowing us to get to our destination quicker. Each of the local guides seem to be more pleasant than the last a real pleasure to be in there company. I could never have imagined being able to see and d so many things in such a short time. It seemed to me it was just one marvelous sight after another.

The cruise portion gave us the opportunity to inter-act with nationals and expected them to be very serious, but they were fun loving and loved the Karaoke. They were so gracious and even applauded when Jim and I tried to dance in our running shoes as these were the only shoes we had with us.

The hotel's were splendid in every way, the meals were exceptional, the shows were marvelous and the scenery glorious .The sightseeing was tremendous I had never thought there would be so much to see and do. Seeing the farming as we toured the river, and the amount of oranges, rice and sugar cane, being cultivate on the mountains.

We had ever m ode of transportation from rick Shaw's, boats, ships, planes, bus, even the small flat boats which we would never have believed we could get in and out – but we did.

The steps of the GREAT WALL proved to be a bit much so with much help and understanding we reach the first flight and took many pictures. The Panda's because of a well planned schedule were just wakening up and ready to have breakfast when we arrived so they put on a grand show for us .Other tour's coming later than ours did not have the same advantage.

Do you get the feeling that I would most definitely Highly recommend your agency to anyone that will listen to me , for that is how I feel .We were blessed by the whole experience and the people we met and enjoyed. The shows we saw were first class and the arrangements made by the local guides were very well organized.

The foot massage at the Medical building after a long day of walking was a pleasure indeed. The tour of the silk factory was also very interesting. we came away knowing a whole lot more about how silk was obtained and very appreciative of all the hard work that goes into it .

I would never have believed that we could get so much for the amount we paid for the trip , we do so appreciate the trip the country and the people we were fortunate to meet .

I wish I could say I would do the trip all over again next year, but since we are both in our 7-'s that is asking a bit much, but believe me we would be only too willing to try.

We had an absolutely fantastic trip!!! We saw SO much!! We were kept busy every minuite of our tour- from early morning to the shows later on in the evening. Our tour director , Sammy was great and she kept us informed about all the history and interesting aspects of all the places which we visited. She put in a lot of late hours and made sure that everyone on our tour was well looked after! Also, all of our Tour Guides were good- helpful, insightful and accomodating. Our hotels were great as well as the meals. Also, we really enjoyed the people on our tour. We are keeping in touch with everyone who was on our original tour, to share pictures and memories.

Alan, Jeremy and I agreed that if we had travelled on our own, we would not have seen half of the things that were included on this tour. Transfers and flights were handled effortlessly by the Tour Director.

It was excellent value for the price of the tour, as we saw and experienced so much!

Just came back from our China trip and everything was wonderful! Thanks so much for organizing our trip and making sure everyone was in order.

China is a very beautiful and very interesting place to visit. We saw and experienced many amazing things on our journey.

We never had to wait for our City guides or our driver when they picked us up from the airport or the hotel. Hotels in every city we visited were very nice, clean and comfortable. Although our city guides' English level varied - we were able to understand everyone just fine and learned a lot of interesting details about the cities we visited. We would especially like to praise our guides in Nanjing and Yichang.

The river cruise was wonderful as well, super friendly, English speaking crew and interesting people on the ship, not even mentioning the great view of the three Gorges!

The only suggestion I would provide is for the tourist to have a little more freedom in picking the menu in the restaurants. We never really had any say in what kind of food was ordered for us in the restaurants our guides took us.

Beijing is an interesting city as well as the GREAT WALL, which my dream has come true to see this great architecture. There were so many places we went to see that I am still trying to figure out which site was more interesting but at the end the whole trip was the highlight.

I am trying to go thru all the fine places, but believe it not, cannot remember certain names of towns besides "Yangshuo" Guilin which is the only think that my head remembers and cannot believe that a little town so magical and whimsical exits.

Our trip went well, when we arrived at JFK, it was sad to say good-bye to everyone. We had been together two weeks and it kind of made us a family but reality set in and we must face it.

All the best for the upcoming Beijing Olympics 2008.

I and my sister had a wonderful vacation in China. And I appreciate for your program which turned out to be great indeed.
Before departure, I was somewhat apprehensive since I had not have enough information, such as domestic flights in China, etc. But everything was in order and we did not have any schedule probblems. When we got a new destination, a guide and a drive were always there waiting for us. Again it was great.

And with respect to service fees, I and my sister did not have any ideas about how much would be be appropriate in tipping; however, it turned out fine since our tour companions, a couple from San Diego brought with them information about how much for service is reasonable in China which they got from their travel agent. If you'd provice such informaiton to your next tour people, your reputation and business will gain. Again we had a fabulous time in China, and we definitely look for you next time we go to China, and we'd like recommend you to our friends for their China tours.

This was the most memorable trip for my daughters and my American friends and will stay in their good memory for the rest of their lives. They must have told so many people by now and if only they have your company
cards and brochures to give away....you would have so many potential customers by word of mouth.
It is the greatest in merely 2 weeks plus

The reason is it is a customized trip.
That means it is tailored to our interest and liking and budget. We wanted to be different. We want to feel special and doing the unbeaten track. My profession is a TV Producer, My friends are a lawyer and an advertising agency personnel.

The other reason it was a great trip is because we happened to have mostly top friendly and sincere tour guides that see to our need of a last minute very clean 5 stars toilet, last minute change of itinerary, change of food
And change of mind.

The most important reason is because of the special places we have packaged successfully which included seeing the western part of China, like the Gobi Desert, Doing sunrise on the camel and the sand dunes, and having special
birthday party in the kindergarten school for my daughter...... All these, takes research and planning and lots and lots of talking in mail and in phone... Here and there in China.....

We have so much luck to have Tao, your staff, to be doing and helping with the above in order to organize such a remarkable trip.

This will be the trend of the modern travellers, where everybody want to have a customized trip and where everybody will demand for personal attention from competent staff like Tao. I see that there are more new travel agencies coming up strong and creative and going along such personalized packaging to China which is out-shinning your companies you must believe me. Not only is their web sites more attractive, their packages with
professional seductive write-up will anytime make your site and offers gloomy. They charge slightly more but I see them capturing the American tourists. Your old way of services the same places the same buses need to change....at least for advertising purposes.

It's nice of you to follow up. My trip to China was fantastic!!! I am very pleased with how all arrangements were made and set up. The itinerary was very enjoyable. You set up a lot of fun, interesting, famous and intriguing sites for us to see. I believe we saw maybe 5-6 of China's top tourist spots (including the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Lingering Lake, etc.) They were amazing sites. I absolutely loved seeing each site in all cities. I LOVED THE TRIP! Also, the number of cities we went to was wonderful. I am so happy to have seen all that I did.

The hotels were fabulous and very comfortable. I enjoyed my stay at each. Regarding food, we always had enough dishes to sample from and never went hungry. It was nice that the meals were ready the minute we got to the restaurant. Also, I was very pleased that there was a tour guide waiting for us at each city. That made us feel comfortable and safe. Even when some of our planes were delayed, the tour guide was still at the arrival gate. Each tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and spoke English very well. They were very accomodating to our questions and needs. I am happy with the guides we had.

Your agency set up the best trip I could have gone on. I am very thankful for that! Also, your help in planning and preparing me for the trip was extremely helpful. You were always very responsive to all my questions in a quick manner. That made me feel very good about working with your agency. Thank you for all that you did to get us to China.

Below are a few suggestions:
- Provide at least a full bottle of water to each person at each meal. Beer and soda was always provided, and sometimes water (but only one glass.) We needed to stay hydrated throughout the day so water is essential and should be included.
- Spend at least 2 days in Shanghai like we did in Beijing. Shanghai seemed like a fun and interesting city, but we only had one full day to look around.
- Provide more tours of local Chinese markets and alleyways. Many of our meals were at tourist-heavy locations. We wanted to eat where the locals eat. Also, although the food was great, we would have liked to have ordered some meals on our own.

I am happy to say that I did not get sick on the trip. I loved climbing the Great Wall and seeing the Terracotta Warriors. It was a pleasant journey that I have raved to all my friends and family about.

Everything was very good.  We cannot have asked for better arrangements.
However, our Tibet guide spoke poor English.  Everywhere
else, guides spoke excellent English and understood what we wanted to
do, very flexible.

Beijing - Anna was an excellent guide.  Hotel was very good.

River Cruise - Boat was good, but the captain was an idiot.  There was a
river flood and he couldn't dock at chongqing and he wouldn't let
passengers go on shore by ferry boat.  We almost missed our flight to
Xian.  He asked us to be patient and cancel our flight.  But the
passengers said other cruise ship captains are arranging for their
passengers to get off by ferry to the nearest shore, why not you?    And
we asked, the flood is a national disaster, you keep in touch with river
traffic, so why did you bring us to a disaster area so that we can be
kept as your hostage on the ship - we would rather get off when we
could.  In the end, we all lost patience and he called a ferry 4 hours
later - we got on flight to Xian with no time to see Chongqing (we were
supposed to have 4 hours there).

Xian - love the hotel we had and Tang Dynasty show with dumplings.  Our
guide Dana was also excellent in every way.

Tibet - Guide were so so.  But Tibet is interesting!

Chengdu - we only changed planes there and were surprised to find a
guide changing planes for us.  She was very helpful.

Shanghai - excellent hotel - we had a nice view, and our guide was also
excellent.  Wonderful acrobat show.

We will definitely recommend our friends.

Cate will comment on the extension tour.  They enjoyed it, I know.

I was a member of the tour from Los Angeles, CA from May 19-June 2.I wantyou to know that I thought the tour was well-organized, well-coordinated,cultural, historical, educational and interesting in all aspects. The hotels were first-class, the restaurants were excellent (although I was ready for a "Big Mac" by the end of the two weeks!), the sites that we visited were all appropriate for tourists, the cruise was splendid and I enjoyed the entire tour. Our tour leader, Jing Zhu (Summer) was the best. She was knowledgeable, professional, courteous, funny, cheerful and faced every day and every situation with patience and grace. The fact that it poured rain on our day at the Great Wall was not the best day of our tour but that was not her fault! There were several times when she had to hurry me along because I was trying to get just one more picture of a certain place, but I understood that we had a schedule to keep in order to have the organization and coordination. I had a wonderful time, even though the last day was spent feeling sick with a cold and sinus headache. I would recommend this tour to anyone and everyone, especially if the tour guide was Summer.

Yes, we were happy with our trips you arranged for us. We got to see what I think are the best parts of China. Thanks for your work in setting the tours up.
We stayed healthy, except for a cold we took from a New York couple. We enjoyed all of the things we saw and learned a deeper appreciation of your culture.

We shopped in every city we visited, bringing back a lot of souvieners. We learned to haggle a little late.

Just want to thank you for assuring us a very nice trip. We just returned on September 7. Everything was well organized, the food was adequate and fine, and all the hotels were true 5/4 star hotels. We learned a lot of history, and saw a lot of historical places. The guides and bus drivers took good care of us, and exceeded our expectations. We were happy to tip accordingly.
I have recommended the trip to 4 other friends from the San Francisco area....who would very much like to take the same trip next year. They will put together a group, and will most likely be contacting the Burlingame office.

Whew what an experience and crazy getting back to work! We had a wonderful time. Both guides were great! Bejing had such beautiful things to see and Shanghai is HUGE. The kids learned so much. I got back to Macao yesterday from my trip to Beijing. I wanted to personally share with you that my trip was AMAZING!
Asia was my tour guide and he was great from the moment that I met him at the airport. I felt like we were friends meeting at the airport not two strangers. The information he shared with me was insightful to say the least. Learning about Chinese history and culture in school is nothing compared to what I learned from Asia. He had answers to all my questions and I was never afraid to ask something. We had fun and laughed a lot.....he is a great person!
He was very understanding and allowed me to make changes to my tour as I wanted to explore Beijing alone at night for dinner ( guess I am more independent that I thought I was), he gave me his phone number and helped me with the subway stops for the places I wanted to go. At first I didn't have any small RMB bills so he lent me money, of course I paid him back the next day, but that is what friends do.
I am grateful for my tour and more for Asia being my tour guide he made the trip memorable
